Jen Armstrong, APR is owner and principal of StrongArm Communications and has over 17 years of experience in public relations. She consults clients on a variety of communication needs in the state of Hawaii. Jen’s experience includes journalism, public relations, marketing, community relations and social media communications. She brings a fresh perspective and insight to the field of public relations. Her commitment to client services coupled with her passion for the work is the foundation of StrongArm Communications.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, Jen attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts with an emphasis in Journalism and minored in Creative Writing. Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California to launch her career. While there, she interned for two of L.A.’s top celebrity publicists. This is where her love for public relations was born.

Jen eventually moved back to Honolulu and decided to pursue a higher educational degree. She then enrolled in Hawaii Pacific University in its graduate program for Communication. After graduating with her Master of Arts in Communication, Jen has had the privilege of working alongside many professionals in the field and was fortunate to execute groundbreaking projects. In 2012, Jen started her own communications company (initially as Kaia Consulting) so she could successfully balance her work/home life.

Jen is an Accredited Public Relations professional with the Public Relations Society of America. She won the inaugural Young Marketer of the Year award from the American Marketing Association Hawaii Chapter in 2015. Jen was also named one of the 40 Under Forty by Pacific Business News in 2016. In 2020, the Public Relations Society of America, Hawaii Chapter named Jen its Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year for a lifetime of achievement in public relations in Hawaii.
